The top ten gas grills under $500 on the market this year, updated for 2007. If you are looking to purchase a new grill for no more than $500 (based on manufacturer's suggested retail price) then these are the one you should be looking at.
Broil-King makes grills that cook. While appearances have been improving you can count on these grills to cook better than they look. This unit has some very impressive features, including a full rotisserie system and the revolutionary Dual-Tube stainless steel burners. In years past this would have been a very expensive grill, but improvements in manufacturing and larger distribution are bringing this unit in about $400USD. That's a real bargain for a three burner gas grill of this size, with these features and this quality. This is definitely a grill worth looking at.
While you can get a equally large grill with all the bells and whistles for this price (around $400USD), this is a solidly built grill that does exactly what it was designed to do, grill. If you don't need a lot of cooking space and all the extras then you can't go wrong with this grill. This is probably the best built grill for the price you will find. The BTUs on this unit are a little low for the size, but because of the efficient design you won't notice it. This grill will reach grilling temperatures in less than 10 minutes of preheat time.
It's hard to get a full function grill (this one includes the rotisserie kit) for under $500USD that is durable and can actually cook. To do this, Weber shipped production of it's Ducane grills to China and completely redesigned this grill. The only thing that hasn't changed is the great Weber support. From top to bottom this is a completely new 3-burner grill with a side burner, rear mounted rotisserie burners (not infrared) and smoker box. So, for around $400USD you can get it all and in a grill that will last you many years (I'd still get the cover though).
Napoleon makes some of the best grills on the market. The Ultra Chef Series are their lower priced units and this one is a top quality grill for under $500. This Ultra Chef has a large cooking are and up to 45,000 BTUs. The high quality stainless steel tubular burners will last for a long time.
If you are serious about grilling and want a grill that delivers both high and even heat and gives you a lot of control, but don't want to spend a lot of money then this is a great grill for you. It might not look modern but Broil-Mate has been making great grills for years. This model will give you plenty of space at 400 square inches or primary cooking area and a total of 700 square inches. And plenty of power with its 50,000 BTU main burner output.
Fiesta Blue Ember 3-Burner Gas Grill (model #FG50069-U401) - This grill is loaded with features right down to a bottle opener mounted on the front. This grill plugs in to power the internal LED lights and has outlets in the back to let you plug in your radio for some music while grilling. At it's heart is a three burner, 45,000 BTU gas grill that has plenty of power and three position cooking grates which give you the ability to get down close to the fire, or position away for gentler heat.
Simply this is the best grill on the market for its price. Given good distribution it is easy to see Fiesta taking control of the under $500 gas grill market, of course at this price that isn't saying too much. The advantage of this grill is consistent quality and integrated design. At well under $300USD, this is the most grill you're going to get for the money. You still get what you pay for, but get the most out of what you spend.
If you want a smaller, dependable grill then this is a great one. If you need more cooking space then you probably need a different grill. With two burners you don't get a lot of versatility when it comes to indirect grilling. Since this grill also has no extras you will get a grill and nothing more, though a rotisserie kit is available. While limited in size and function this grill is perfect for a small space and the person who really just needs to be able to grill up some chops or chicken pieces.
Cook-On 3-Burner Gas Grill Review. Barbeques Galore imports its own line of grills. This one sits at the bottom of the line. This is a grill designed for cooking and has no features other than the main grill. It has a good warranty and heavy components but the reliance on porcelain coatings forces you to take extra care of the grill.
You want the truth? This is a near worthless gas grill. Fortunately it is priced that way. You can get this model around $110USD. Similar Char-Broil models (of which there are a dozen) sell as high as about $150USD. What you get for that price is a basic, featureless gas grill that will flare-up, cook unevenly and generally perform like the cheapest grill on the market, which it is (okay there are others, but even I won't go there). If you do the math, however this grill might cost you $5 to $10 a month before you buy its replacement. All I as is that you recycle.
